The next step

So, having ordered the kit the only other thing you need is a Mk7 1.6l Petrol Ford Fiesta. What's needed is one that is fully functional but damaged beyond economic repair.
As it happens there is an ideal car in Worcester. Mine now!

Looks mint from the back;

Not so mint from the front

Anyway it runs OK

Taken back to the build headquarters at my son's body shop Up-To-Scratch in Caerphilly.

First job is to strip off the front to see the damage.

So here we are. Both headlights, radiator, battery box, air con condenser, fan and shroud all heading to the bin. There are cracks in the manifold so another is on its way. Battery is totally flat as well. The engine runs a bit lumpy but will be fine.

Lovely interior and the airbags worked! I won't need them so thats fine. The airbags broke the ignition key as well!

Next job is to get whats left running right before taking more of it apart. Must start labelling some of the wiring loom before I forget what's what as well!

In the begining

For ages I've been wanting to make an amphibious car. The original plan was to take a four wheel drive car and make it amphibious while leaving it looking like the original vehicle. This is, of course, almost impossible and certainly beyond my ability!

The thoughts still festered and were reignited at the Southampton Boat Show in September 2019.

This lead to a visit to Tim Dutton in Littlehampton to see a finished car and go for a test drive.

This is a video of the end of the test drive

And here is a photo of on on dry land.

So the kit is ordered so let the adventure begin.

Week 57 - The Test

 Got all the paperwork off to register it as a car now to test it as a boat!! Here are a couple of videos and some photos of it in action....
